This course is intended for customers.
Prerequisites
To understand the content and successfully complete this course, a student must have a suitable knowledgebase/skill set. The student must have an understanding of:
- Isilon scale-out storage platform
- Isilon hardware troubleshooting and maintenance procedures
- Basic networking components including Ethernet, switches, and network aggregation
- Network protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, SMB, and NFS
Students should have completed the following EMC courses:
- Isilon Fundamentals (e-learning)
- Isilon Installation and Initial Configuration (e-learning)
- Isilon Administration and Management (MR-1CP-ISIAM)
Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Use notifications and events to identify and diagnose issues
- Navigate the system log structure Perform log analysis
- Identify and resolve networking and SmartConnect issues
- Perform trend analysis to find anomalies
- Establish sound administrative practices
- Identify disaster recovery options for Isilon clusters
- Differentiate between and explain upgrade options
- Understand the overhead and impact of different data protection options
- Understand latency and performance issues
Course Content
This course is designed to take an experienced Isilon Administrator and provide advanced details about the Isilon cluster operations. The course provides the expertise necessary for an Administrator to consider and plan for future growth, the understanding to implement best practices to avoid common issues, and the ability to quickly diagnose the source of issues and work efficiently with Isilon support resources. This training consists of 11 modules. The total time required to complete this course is approximately 5 days.
